Holiday Greetings from the North Shore where we continue to celebrate the season. The holidays are stacked up, for sure — the Winter Solstice, Christmas/Hannukah, and the New Year. It makes us feel playful and happy.
In this vein, I have decided to make this week’s blog celebratory, with lots of photos and not very heavy on content.
Here’s a quick selection:

I caught this frosty moment in a rural store window many years ago. Photo by Layne Kennedy.

Red Fox Stare Down by Michael Furtman.
Rick Lax posted this on Facebook the other day.

Lax got 4,000 responses. The list included lots of mentions of marshmallows and hot dogs, brussel sprouts, the ends of barbecue ribs, sausages, and, a joint.

Meanwhile, art continues.
Exhibits:
This is the last week to see Kim Dayton’s exhibit at the Johnson Heritage Post.
Dayton’s exhibit is entitled “Celestial Navigation” and includes paintings, prints, and photographs. It continues through Dec. 29. The Heritage Post is open from 10 am to 4 pm Monday, and Thursday through Saturday and from 1-4 pm Sunday. Free.
Also, the Holiday Art Underground Show at Betsy Bowen’s Gallery is ongoing as well, featuring work by a great selection of local and regional artists as well as Bowen’s work.
The exhibit also features a Guest Artist Pop-up with Minnesota paintings by Charlotte Durie of Wales and Lutsen.
The exhibit continues through Dec. 29. The gallery is open from 11 am to 5 pm Thursday through Saturday.
New Year’s Eve is next Tuesday and there are a few celebrations planned for local venues, as well as lots of private parties. Here’s what we know:
