This is one of those years where those of us who live close to Lake Superior are grateful for the big water. It is definitely keeping us a lot warmer than those who live on the other side of the hill.
Here, we have ground that’s unfrozen and a little green is showing up in perennial beds. There, they still have feet of unmelted snow. Why? Lake Superior is unfrozen, and is 32+ degrees. Winds off the lake keep us warm this time of year. Over the hill, it’s at least 10 degrees cooler, or more, and their snow this year is not melting at all. It’s discouraging.
But when this snow melts, we will truly have spectacular waterfalls this year. And it should happen soon. They are predicting a high of 45 on Saturday.
Meanwhile, we carry on.
