Greetings from Cook County where you have your choice of yardwork this week: rake your lawn or plow your driveway, depending on where you live.
If you live beside Lake Superior, most of the snow is gone and the rhubarb is showing red nubbins in the garden. If you live on the Gunflint Trail, ice is at least 33-inches thick on the lakes and the snow is two feet deep or more. Cross-country crust skiing is still great, gardening not so much. On the other hand, we’ve had some sunny days, adding sparkle to Lake Superior, and the waterfalls are spectacular.
Tnere are some interesting things happening in the county this week.
First up is a presentation all-day Thursday on the Grand Marais Art Colony‘s Instagram page by ceramic artist Shiyuan Xu ,who works with porcelain paperclay.
Xu will teach a workshop at the Grand Marais Art Colony this summer. To learn more about her and see her work, check out the Art Colony’s Instagram, page here.
